Genevieve was the daughter of a imprisoned jewel thief. Taking up her father's profession, she made a rich businessman, Martin Herzog, fall in love with her so she could steal the "l'étoile du tricherie" , a very rare and expensive necklace. Remy was sent to retrieve this necklace for the Guild. A young teenage Remy decided to charmed her into falling in love with him to steal the necklace for fun. Unknown to him, Sabretooth was hired by Mr. Herzog to retrieve the necklace from Genevieve as well. Gambit managed to steal the necklace but Sabretooth killed Genevieve and threatened to kill Henri, Remy's brother, to get the necklace from Remy.
