Origin

Gib is a child of the original Gibborim. He and his brothers were set to inherit an Earth full of souls ready to be consumed, but The Runaways stopped their parents from performing the ritual. This left them trapped in Limbo for quite some time.

Creation

Gib was created by Rainbow Rowell and David Lafuente and first appeared in Runaways Vol.5 issue 13 (2018)

Major Story Arcs

Runaway

When they finally escaped, the trio confronted The Runaways and tried to force them to perform the ritual their parents never finished. The Runaways bought themselves some time, but the new generation of Gibborim were unwilling to leave them unsupervised. Thus, Gib stayed at the hostel to watch over them.

Gib was a silent observer. He watched as the team showed compassion and empathy for each other and even himself. He was convinced that humanity was worth saving and turned on his brothers. He was welcomed into the Runaways, but he continued to hunger.

The team attempts multiple ways to feed him, but ultimately, it was Old Lace and Rufus who figured it out. They started bringing home squirrels they were catching and killing them in front of Gib so that he might restore himself. Gib remained weak, but it was better than nothing. It wasn't until Doc Justice was killed by Old Lace for betraying the team that Gib was fed something even remotely satisfying.

One World Under Doom

About two months after Chase and Karolina left, Doctor Doom became the Sorcerer Supreme. He used that power to become emperor of the world. Among his many acts, he commanded doombots to travel the world collecting the various doombots that have either gone rogue or been salvaged, including the emancipated Doombot hero living with The Runaways. Gib and The Runaways tried to protect Doombot, but they were unmatched without the Staff of One. Luckily, a time portal opened up, and Chase arrived as backup. His added firepower helped overwhelm the three doombots, who swore to return with backup.

The Runaways decide to go on the run first to the secret basement of the Yorke family house and then to the Yorke's secret vacation home, but the doombots kept catching up with them. Chase removed Doombots tracker, Karolina and Alex Wilder returned to help, and Nico Minoru started to exhibit magic powers again, and they still couldn't shake them. This proved to Doombot that to protect Victor and his friends, he had to quietly leave on his own.

Powers & Abilities

Seed of Gibborim: Gib are the children of the Gibborim and as such is born with special abilities, the strength of which is determined by how many souls are sacrificed to him.

• Superhuman: Gib is much stronger than a regular man of his size and maybe be enhanced in speed and agility as well.
• Shape-Shifting: Gib is able to shape-shift, appearing more human
• Appearance: Gib has a pair of horns sticking out of his head, that increase in size and majesty when souls are sacrificed to him.
