Origin

Guru Strange is a deranged clone of Doctor Strange, Sorcerer Supreme, created by The Jackal thanks to a DNA sample provided by Baron Zemo. He was part of a larger agenda set up before Zemo's death to resurrect him should he ever die, which happened during Doom's reign as World Emperor.

Creation

Guru Strange was introduced in New Avengers (2025) #1 by Sam Humphries and Ton Lima.

Major Story Arcs

Killuminati

Bucky Barnes and Black Widow put together a New Avengers task force to investigate a secret lab in Russia surrounded by missing persons reports. To protect himself, The Jackal clone running the lab released his clones of the Illuminati, including Guru Strange. Guru kept his distance and used his spellcasting to disarm the New Avengers.

While Iron Apex and Bolt were killed by the New Avengers, Guru Strange made his escape by teleporting away. Luckily, Clea could easily track him since his power signature was so similar to her husband's. They would track him to a floating estate, he called Shamballah Two, which would eventually become headquarters for the Killuminati, when they realize they need to band together to take on these Avengers.

Iron Apex led the Killuminati to a lab in Hungary so they can put the finishing touches on Baron Zemo's cloning. The New Avengers tracked them to it and confronted them. Sick of Guru trading on Strange's likeness, Clea cast a spell that caused him to explode.
