Hjarmal Knute Svenson was discovered by The Kallusians while on an expedition in the Arctic. Being an expert on respiration, he created replicas of the alien oxygen granules that allowed The Kallusians to breathe on Earth. He offered to aid his alien hosts as long as they swore not to harm Earth. Years later The Avengers tracked down Dr. Svenson in order to perform a complicated surgery only he could, to save The Wasp from a bullet lodged in her lungs. The doctor left The Kallusians to aid The Avengers and successfully operated on The Wasp.
