David Mitchell was an African-American civilian who was kidnaped by Agent Axis and placed in a machine as A.A.'s hostage. Through a series of events the machine ended up giving Mitchell the ability to spin at superspeed. Mitchell put on a costume and became the Human Top II, joining the Kid Commandos along with Golden Girl II and Bucky. He served with the Kid Commandos until their break-up. David was then offered a postion on the V-battalion when they reformed and he served as a field operative for some time and as a member of the Penance Council until he let his son take over his postion. Following the death of his son, David's grandson, Darren took his place. Since then David has served as a father figure to his grandson an a desk worker for the V-battalion at their home base.
