Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Jemma Simmons is a main character in the show and one of the first recruits in Coulson´s Team. She is played by Elizabeth Henstridge.
Dr. Jemma Simmons began as a prodigy — a genius biochemist with a sharp mind and a soft heart, recruited young into S.H.I.E.L.D.'s research division. Partnered with fellow scientist Leo Fitz, the two became inseparable — "FitzSimmons" — not just professionally, but emotionally. Together, they joined Agent Coulson’s team, facing everything from alien tech to human betrayal.
Simmons built close bonds with teammates like Skye (later Daisy Johnson) and even befriended Grant Ward — a trust shattered when he was revealed to be HYDRA. Despite heartbreak and chaos during HYDRA’s uprising, she stayed loyal to S.H.I.E.L.D., helping rebuild the fractured organization after the fall of S.H.I.E.L.D. and the Battle at Cybertek.
Knowing her presence was slowing Fitz’s recovery, Simmons made the ultimate sacrifice and went undercover in HYDRA. When her cover was blown, she returned, helping in the search for the Kree City and working to understand the Inhuman phenomenon. But fate had other plans — the alien Monolith teleported her to Maveth, a desolate planet where she survived alone for months, forming a bond and falling in love with stranded astronaut Will Daniels.
Fitz rescued her, only for them to learn that Will was dead and Hive — the Inhuman god — had possessed his body. Shattered but determined, Simmons joined the fight against Hive, eventually helping defeat him alongside Fitz.
Post-Hive, the world changed again with the Sokovia Accords. Though cautious of the new S.H.I.E.L.D. Director Jeffrey Mace, Simmons rose to become his science advisor, cementing her status as a key S.H.I.E.L.D. figure. Her loyalty was tested again when Radcliffe betrayed them, forcing her and Daisy to enter the Framework — a simulated world — to save their friends. They succeeded but returned to a darker reality: Earth broken, timelines in flux.
The team was flung into 2091, where Simmons was forced to serve Kasius, a Kree tyrant. Rescued again by Fitz (who traveled through time for her), they reunited and returned to the present. They married, and briefly, there was peace.
Then came another mission: preventing Earth's destruction, battling Hale's HYDRA and the alien Confederacy. Fitz died a hero, but Simmons refused to give up. She became Director Mackenzie’s second-in-command and led a quest to find the past version of Fitz — frozen in space. After a long, painful search, they were captured by the Chronicoms and used to unlock time travel. With Enoch’s help, they escaped and began secretly planning humanity’s defense.
During this time, Simmons gave birth to their daughter, Alya, and worked in hiding to build what would become their final mission — one last jump through the timelines to save S.H.I.E.L.D. and Earth. To protect Fitz’s location, Simmons implanted herself with a memory-suppressing device, sacrificing her own memories for the greater good.
She was later kidnapped by Nathaniel Malick, tortured for information she couldn’t recall, and further damaged by Chronicom leader Sibyl, causing total memory loss. But when reunited with her team, Simmons rebuilt a device to bring back Fitz. His return restored her memory and completed their mission. Together, they defeated the Chronicoms, restored the timeline, and saved their daughter’s future.
With their war finally over, Fitz and Simmons retired from S.H.I.E.L.D. — not in tragedy or trauma, but in triumph. They chose peace, a quiet life to raise Alya, and the rare happy ending that few agents ever see.
