Jiaying was an original character for MCU's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D as Daisy Johnson's secret mom and leader of Afterlife, a place for Inhumans to live. Jiaying was revealed to believe in Inhuman superiority, and was the villain of the second season. A very different version of Jiaying was later introduced in the Quake one-shot from 2015.
Major Story Arcs
Jiaying in mainstream comics wasn't Daisy's mother, but instead a disfigured Inhuman woman who was a spiritual guide to her fellow Inhumans, and met Daisy in her first mission as an Avenger.
