Junior Juniper
Jonathan "Junior" Juniper was a member of the Howling Commandos during WWII. He has the distinction of being the first recurring character to die in a Marvel comic, and one of the only Howling Commandos to perish in battle.

Junior Juniper was a young man whom joined the Allied forces to fight against the Nazi's during World War Two. He was recruited to become part of Sgt. Fury's Howling Commandos and was a valuable asset to Nick Fury's troops.
Creation
Junior Juniper was created by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby and first appeared in #Sgt. Fury issue 1 (1963).

Death
Junior Juniper has the distinction of being the first recurring character to die in a Marvel comic (In Sgt. Fury issue 4), and the only Howling Commando to perish in battle. Junior Juniper is remembered yearly on a reunion of the living remaining members of the Howling Commandos.

In the Ultimate Universe, instead of joining the Howling Commandos, Junior fought under Sgt. Rock, and simply died of old age.
