Origin
As a child, he was a lowly servant boy in the house of a wealthy family in China. While collecting water, he came across the carcass of a Yeren, a Yeti-like creature from Chinese folklore. He took the dead body to his master, Zheng Zu, who encouraged the boy's study of it. With his master's support, the boy created The Yeren Root from its DNA, which would allow a user to shapeshift Yeren characteristics. Excited about this new discovery, the master established his protege in New York City to continue his studies with a traditional Chinese medicine shop as a front, dubbing him King Wild Man.

Chieftain Xin
After Shang-Chi took over his father's criminal network, The Five Weapons Society, Shang tried rebranding the organization as a vigilante group. He and Sister Dagger were tracking a drug ring when they crossed paths with Spider-Man, who was tracking a arms ring. Both criminal rings were one in the same, King Wild Man's monster serums. His operation was shut down and much of his product was confiscated, but King Wild Man managed to escape when he dosed Spider-Man, created a distraction.
Desperate, he accepted an offer from Shang's grandfather, Chieftain Xin, to join an assembly of criminal organizations targeted by Shang-Chi to help Xin take The Five Weapons Society from Shang-Chi. Xin's plan went south very quickly when King Wild Man and the others were all led into a trap by Sister Staff, a previously exiled member of the Society. She was part of Xin's war party, but she had already been invited back by Shang-Chi.
To escape, King Wild Man turned Red Dot into a monster that broke them all free from their prison.
