Lexi was a member of the Gladiators which were a group of mutants that participated in an illegal, underground fight club. Lexi was present in the training room after Magma and Sunspot of the New Mutants were forced to stay with the Gladiators to prevent runaway children from being slaughtered. Dazzler would return to the Gladiators and try to befriend Sunspot and Magma but they were wary of her actions. During the training session, Dazzler was caught in the arms of Sunspot and he flung her towards the air. Lexi caught her in mid-air and brought her back down safely.
