Growing up in Shanghai as the son of Professor Lin and older brother of Lin Lie, Feng despised the oath between his family bloodline and the god Fu Xi, binding them to guard a tomb containing great evil. Feng longed for the freedom to choose his own path, and when he joined his father on a dig, Professor Lin was murdered and Feng left for dead. Surviving the collapsed tomb, he took the opportunity to break the family blood oath, aligning himself with the evil deity whose remains had been sealed by the Lin family for generations: The God of War, Chiyou.

Family Reunion

Capturing K'un-Lun
Capturing K'un-Lun

When the Sword of Fu Xi was shattered, the ancient seals binding Chiyou weakened. Using this to his advantage, Feng commanded the demons of Chiyou to assault the First Tomb, guarded by his own family clan. Feng transforms the guards into demons, breaches the sealed door, and takes the ancient scabbard of Fu Xi's Sword. Travelling to Gansu, Feng confronts the Nu-Wa Clan who guard the Second Tomb of Chiyou. Lin Lie and Ji Shuangshuang attempt to defend the tomb, but Feng easily defeats them and appeals to Lie that he wants to resurrect Chiyou so that the two of them can slay the god and end the blood oath once and for all. Lie sees through his brother's lies, and the two battle for the fate of the first Orb of Chiyou. While the two brothers fight, Danny Rand calls the warriors of K'un-Lun to assist in defending the Nu-Wa Clan. Thinking Feng defeated, Lie attempts to appeal to his older brother's compassion, but Feng reveals the location of the Third Tomb of Chiyou resides within K'un-Lun, and it was impossible for him to reach the Heavenly City without Lie's assistance. With the heroes on the other side of the now-closed portal, Feng easily conquers K'un-Lun, with sights set on finding the last tomb.

Invasion of the Seven Capital Cities of Heaven

Lin Feng vs. Iron Fist
Lin Feng vs. Iron Fist

After conquering K'un-Lun and blocking its access from Earth, Feng travelled across the Seven Capital Cities alongside Davos and Neon Dragon in search of the third and final Soul Orb of Chiyou. Along their path of destruction, they murdered Bride of Nine Spiders, Brother Dog #1 and Fat Cobra, and recruited Tiger's Faithful Daughter with the goal of resurrecting the ancient God of War. Disgusted and exhausted with the duty plaguing the Lin family for centuries, Feng hopes that in releasing Chiyou from his prison, he shall be free from the burden. However after pillaging several of the Heavenly Cities, the Asgardian Loki reveals to Feng that the Soul Orb has been in K'un-Lun all along, as previously promised.

Feng uses his servent Neon Dragon to open a Darkforce portal to New York City, sending his corrupted army of K'un-Lun warriors led by Davos to find a portal protected by Karnak of the Inhumans. When Lin Lie uses the portal Feng opened to travel to K'un-Lun and confront his brother, Feng uses the power of Chiyou to rip the shards of the Sword of Fu Xi out of Lie's arms to forge a new Sword of Chiyou. Using this new blade, Feng slices off Lie's right arm, but before he can execute his brother, White Fox intervenes. Feng fights off Lie's allies with ease, until Neon Dragon and Tiger's Faithful Daughter are defeated in battle, closing the portal to Earth and ending the mind control on the citizens of K'un-Lun. Embittered, Feng listens to Chiyou's voice and plunges his hand within Neon Dragon's body to retrieve the last Orb of Chiyou from within the Darkforce Dimension. Uniting all three orbs within the Sword of Chiyou, Feng's body becomes the vessel for the god's powers as the avatar of the God of War.

Possessing Feng's body, Chiyou battles Danny Rand and Lie, who channels the combined qi of Fu Xi, Shou-Lao and every citizen of K'un-Lun into a punch that shatters Chiyou's spirit possession. Feng regains control of his body, but in his weakened state he is stabbed by Loki and teleported away. Loki contains Chiyou's life force within the Sword of Chiyou and imprisons Feng, but his exposure to the energies of the War God and Shou-Lao bestowed Feng with qi powers of his own. Now titled the Immortal War Fist, Feng plots his next move.
