Origin

Marissa Darrow had been a former member of the Avengers in a alternate timeline. She would sometime later join a group led by the enigmatic Protector. He named the group of various timeline rescues the Gatherers. Magdalene would vow to seek and destroy Sersi in every timeline. It was believed by Magdalene as well as the Gatherers that Sersi was responsible for the destruction of hers and the others own time-lines.

Creation

Magdalene was created by Bob Harras and Steve Epting and first appeared in The Avengers Vol.1 issue 343 (1992).

Major Story Arcs

Against the Avengers

Magdalena and the Gatherers' quest eventually lead them to the 616 Universe. Protector even went so far as to "gather" Magdalena's alternate self from Earth-616, which ended-up in murdering her counter part. Eventually her romantic interest Swordsman found out about the truth behind the destruction of their reality. It was not Sersi but Proctor himself that had caused it. Both Magdalene and Swordsman rebelled against Proctor and helped the Avengers defeat their former team members.

Members of the Group

Later Magdalene and Javert would become members of the Avengers. After helping the Avengers and Squadron Supreme fight Imus Champion they entered a portal to find another earth to call home.

Powers and Abilities

Magdalene has superhuman strength, able to lift about in excess of 70 tons. She has enhanced agility and reflexes, making her a very efficient fighter.

Weapons and Paraphernalia

Her main weapon is her power lance. Its offensive capabilities include the typical use as a melee weapon as well as firing powerful energy attacks. Defensively, she uses the lance to reflect back energy attacks aimed at her. In addition she can open spatial portals with her lance and travel through them. Magdalene wears protective armor.
