This individual lured and captured her for his research of Dr. Curt Connors. According to DB001's own research, he discovered that individuals like Mary had a higher success rate of mutating into reptilian creatures like the Lizard. While in captivity, she was mutated and fought against the X-Men, where she was easily defeated along with her fellow nerds.
