Torpedo Rediscovered:

Michael Jeffries father Phillip was the first cousin of Brock Jones aka the Torpedo. When Brock died his dire wraith created Torpedo suit was inherited by his cousin. Michael Jeffries found the box in his parent's attic when he was looking for something to wear to a college costume party. He lent the costume to his friend Michiko Musashi but a group of Dire Wraiths attacked the party. Michiko (Mickey) defeated the Wraiths with the costume. From this point on Mickey and Michael shared the Turbo suit.

Enter the New Warriors:

The New Warriors met Mickey first in a fight against Cardinal and Michael later in a fight against Darkling. The New Warriors favored Mickey who was better at using the suit then Michael and over time she became the primary user of the suit.

Michael was eventually killed and had his identity assumed by the shape shifting Dire Wraith Queen Volx when she was pretending to be his second Cousin Dan Jones. Posing as Michael Volx was able to convince Mickey to let her don the suit one last time. Once Volx had the armor she was able to tap into its full potential and launched a failed plan to depower the earth's superhumans before she was killed by Night Thrasher.
