Origin

Cassian was a peasant in 1200 CE, London, when a group of Crusaders came upon him. They had been recruiting men to join them, proclaiming loyalty to God and the King. Cassian didn't believe in either but was fine with a change of scenery. He sailed with them to North Africa and survived for three years at war. Sick of being at service to the rich, he abandoned his crew when they were in Egypt. After getting lost in a sandstorm, he found himself in the temple of Khonshu. He rejected that god to but was gifted a silver scarab if he changed his mind. He eventually traveled back to his platoon and their enemies slaughtered by Apocalypse. Vengeful, he lashed out at the mutant but was easily bested. He finally accepted Khonshu's offer and was turned into the Moon Knight. With his new power, he was able to behead the mutant tyrant.
Creation
Cassian first appears in the short story "Crusader" by Benjamin Percy and Rod Reis in Phases of the Moon Knight #1
