Mr. Engima was created by Jed MacKay and Joey Vazquez, and first appeared in Black Cat (2020) Annual #1.
Major Story Arcs
Mr. Enigma is present when Tiger Division's commander, White Fox, blackmails the American thief Black Cat into helping the team rescue Taegukgi. Taegukgi's body has been psionically possessed by the sadistic Mongdal, and Enigma must fight his corrupted teammate while Fox & Cat locate and neutralize Mongdal, freeing Taegukgi.
Death of Doctor Strange
Mr. Enigma is part of the team deployed to the streets of Seoul following the death of Doctor Stephen Strange, an event which resulted in dimensional invasions across the globe by numerous demons and foes. After defeating the latest wave of demons, Enigma notes that this is the strongest threat they have faced since the interdimensional barrier fell, and he senses that more dangerous monsters shall breach this reality. Agents of Atlas leader Jimmy Woo alerts the team to another threat in South Korea: a wild, demonic kumiho. Enigma ruminates that the kumiho are supposed to be extinct, and is ordered to stay and defend Seoul while White Fox and Sword Master investigate.
One World Under Doom

After Victor Von Doom announces a state of Pax Victoris, Tiger Division is drafted in defeating a Bulgae while filming a music video for Luna Snow, that includes pro-Doom messaging and lyrics welcoming Doom's "evergreen peace." After nine days of Doom's new emergency response drones, Tiger Division begin to feel redundant and debate the validity of Doom's rule. Lady Bright dislikes living under Doom's dictatorship after his attack on the team to retrieve Taegukgi's power, but Enigma believes that Doom's open border policy shall help Korea become a global nation.
The team are called to their headquarters, where Chibicorp drones are laying siege courtesy of the Japanese hero Sunfire. Once the drones are destroyed , Director Han uses this as an opportunity to announce Doom's Pan-Asian expansion protocol, revealing Aero, Wave and Karma as Tiger Division's new team members. With the regional alliance comes rebranding, and Tiger Division are renamed Doom's Division, who are ordered to aprehend the renegade Sunfire, who defies Doom's world order. The team follow Director Han's intel to Hokkaido, however the team are betrayed by Wave and Karma who reveal themselves to be allied with Sunfire.
Mr. Enigma takes charge as field leader, commanding his teammates and freeing Taegukgi from Wave's waterspout. Karma takes possession of Taegukgi who attacks the team, forcing Enigma to seal him within a sand prison. The conflict ends when Taegukgi and Sunfire agree to a ceasefire, however White Fox intervenes and arrests the entire team on behalf of Doom. The team are imprisoned in their Buramsan headquarters for two days, before Lady Bright and Gun-R II break in and free the reformed Tiger Division.
Powers and Abilities
Mr. Enigma is a demigod of currently unknown origin, with enhanced abilities such as superhuman strength, invulnerability and supposed immortality. Enigma was able to withstand blows from a possessed Taegukgi and an implanted bomb in his neck, suggesting his invulnerability is his greatest asset. Enigma also has some level of elemental power, which has manifested itself in the manipulation of earth, wood, water, and sand.
