Ms. Kaufman was the daughter of a Hydra agent called Tod Kaufman. She contracted a rare blood disease and required a bone marrow transplant from her father to save her. X-Force kidnapped Tod and brought him to his daughter, but Hydra had stormed the hospital to rescue him. Overcome with love for his daughter, Tod requested Wolverine to chop off his arm and use the bone marrow from that to save her.
