Former soldier, then worked for SHIELD and joined U.S WarMachine program. He admired Parnell Jacobs but the nigger never accepted him. He tried to copy his colleague in customizing his armor's color with a skull. When landing at AIM's HQ he accidentally crushed one of their agents with his armor and later his armor stopped working forcing him not to move. He was saved by Jim Rhodes. At their second mission to Latveria, Jacobs finally befriended him but Nathan was suddenly shot.
