Nial found himself an unwilling test subject of Dr. Xanto Starblood, an extreme xenobiologist. He was rescued from his stasis pod by Spider-Man, who had initially partnered with Starblood before learning the truth about his test subjects. Although Nial originally agreed with the plan to torture Starblood, Spider-Man ultimately convinced him to show mercy.
