Origin

Purple Hayes was the daughter of successful psychologist and hippie, Dr. Tim Hayes. He and his wife took Purple to a 10 pm showing of Easy Rider. As they approached their van, which they parked in an alley in protest of parking meters, they are approached by a conservatively dressed mugger. Purple's parents were killed in the encounter, so she dedicated herself to criminology so that she could hunt down her parents' killer. To do so, she banned the homeless people her father used to shelter in their mansion. She decided to create a merchandising phenomenon when one of the angry homeless people threw a Darth Vader helmet through her window.
