Johnny Farmer was a man that received the Penance Stare from Ghost Rider after he and two other men assaulted a young girl in Tarrytown, New York. Farmer remained in a special terminal ward where he was legally brain dead and his body functions were kept alive by life support systems. Farmer was given a spark of life when the Dark Dwarf appeared in his room and offered him the chance for revenge if he accepted a black envelope. Farmer opened the black envelope and uttered a spell written on a page from the Darkhold. Farmer transformed into a demonic entity called the Harvestor and began to kill innocent civilians for various organs and body parts. The Harvestor came into conflict with Ghost Rider and reminded him that the Darkhold gave him the ability to instantly graft fresh transplants to his body. The fight was fierce and it continued until the Harvestor led Ghost Rider into an old, rundown building. Ghost Rider saw several dead bodies hanging from their feet inside a large room his enemy called his harvesting ground because that is where he kept his spare parts. Ghost Rider gave the Harvestor his Penance Stare as they grappled one another and the intended organ donors were reanimated. They grabbed the Harvestor and tore into his body as they tried to escape from the Penance Stare. The Harvestor was ripped to shreds and vengeance was again served by Ghost Rider.

Creation

The Harvestor first appeared as Johnny Farmer in Midnight Sons Unlimited # 1 and was created by Howard Mackie and Klaus Janson in 1993. Farmer became the Harvestor in Midnight Sons Unlimited # 2 and was created by Mort Todd and Bart Sears in a story called Organ Grinder in 1993.

Powers & Abilities

The Harvestor was a demon that was given the ability to instantly graft fresh transplants to his body due to the black magic of the Darkhold. The Harvestor could recover from massive trauma by replacing damaged organs, bones or tissue from human parts. Harvestor possessed superhuman strength, durability and resistance to injury and wielded three blades on each hand that protruded from his knuckles.
