Brief History

Count Otto Vermis was a European nobleman and high-ranking member of HYDRA, better known for recruiting Spider-Woman/Jessica Drew into the organization. He recruited her when she had amnesia and had no clue about her own past. Otto then planned for Jessica to fall in love with fellow agent Jared and ordered her to kill Nick Fury. Otto promised Jessica to find out the truth about her past and did actually tried to do this, although he did not come far with faulty and incomplete information. He kept most information to himself until soon before his death 

Note: For unknown reasons the "Spider-Woman:Origin" mini-series renamed him General Herbert Wyndham. This is the name of the High Evolutionary and the two characters are unrelated.
