Raydeen was a giant robot piloted by Richard Carson and original member of the Shogun Warriors.
Creation
Raydeen was created for the anime Brave Raideen (1975-1976) and arrived in America in Mattel's Shogun Warriors toy collection and was adapted into the Marvel comics by Doug Moench and Herb Trimpe in 1979 and first appeared in Shogun Warriors # 1.
Powers & Abilities
Raydeen had immense physical strength. Its right forearm housed a gigantic blade which could be used to stab or slash opponents. Its left wrist housed a bow which fired arrows containing explosives. Its fingers launched missiles. It used a giant shield for defense in close range combat and could throw it like a boomerang. The body of the robot was covered with "heat shields" which absorbed vast amounts of energy, effectively negating energy-based attacks aimed against it. The robot could transform to a supersonic jet.
