The Rose of Purity looks like an inanimate rose, but it is actually a god. It lives in an alien dimension, and exudes great feelings of love and wonder all around it. The planet that it resides on has somewhat of a resemblance to the Little Prince's asteroid and rose, in keeping with writer J.M. DeMatteis's regular literary references in this series.
Two aliens were shipwrecked there hundreds of thousands of years ago. They fell in love with the Eden-like mystical aura that the Rose creates, and have danced around it and worshiped it ever since.
Amora wants the Rose to bring her back to a state of purity herself, so that she can prove to be a worthy companion of the God of Love, for whom she has fallen. She blackmails some Defenders into getting it for her. However, they ultimately decide they can't cut it down.
It forgives them for their trespasses.
