Our Secrets Wars
After the leadership of Latveria was overthrown by Doctor Doom, Marius founded a rebel group working against him. When American diplomats were taken hostage by Doom, Marius worked as a contact for a team of Howling Commandos which included the recently unfrozen Captain America and his modern-day replacement, David Colton. He suggested rather than smuggle the hostages out, they let them walk out of a free Latveria by helping him take down Doctor Doom. Colton didn't trust him, but Cap believed Marius' attack would serve as a good distraction for Colton and the Commandos to sneak the hostages to safety.
Marius, Cap, and a reprogrammed Doombot sneaked into Castle Doom. Marius was actually surprised to find Doom there and took the opportunity to assassinate him. Unfortunately, the Doombot turned out not to be completely reprogrammed. He stopped Cap and Marius and delivered them to Doom, however, Doom welcomed Cap as the "scourge of Hitler." He did not extend the same mercy to Marius, who was going to be publicly executed to make an example for all resisters.
Luckily, he was saved by Cap, who forced Doom to retreat by ripping his faceplate off.
Doom's Shadow

Years later, Doom installed himself as World Emperor and Sorcerer Supreme, only to sacrifice his life and titles to magically save the life of Valeria Richards. Without him, Latveria falls into chaos without proper leadership. Marius steps up, relying on Doom's tactics, including a metal faceplate. He calls himself Salvation and stands against other factions fighting for leadership. He also agrees to cooperate with his old friend, Cap, who is sent into the country with agents from the new SHIELD to inspect the government, keep civil unrest from getting out of control, and secure a secret weapon of Doom's
However, he was responsible for a mass grave that he deemed necessary to save Latveria. When Cap learned of grave, he turned on his own ally and managed to get most of his SHIELD taskforce to give up on the mission and take Salvation out. He was forced to use his advanced power armor to take Cap and the other agents on. He also has secretly allied with SHIELD wildcard member, Red Widow. She agreed to deliver to him Doom's secret weapon if her SHIELD team found it. Unfortunately, she delivered him an empty case, which they had thought was the weapon.
Cap managed to exhaust Salvation in a fight, just in time for the people of Latveria to overwhelm Salvation.
