Saripha is a friend, and potential paramour, of Daimon Hellstrom's when he works as a professor in parapsychology. She is a white witch.
Hellstrom leaves.
In the meantime, she finds a new love--who is also Daimon Hellstrom. Except that actually, as she eventually realizes, he is actually a low-order demon who has free will, and wishes to live a life of goodness among humans. It determined that Hellstrom was wasting his life, and so it assumed his shape and life, trying to live it to his full potential. Even after finding out that he's a demon, Saripha still loves him. They marry, and she becomes pregnant.
Eventually the real Daimon returns, and battles with his doppelganger. Daimon wins, and forces the demon to reveal himself. Saripha and the demon leave in peace, and take on new identities.
