The Scarab is the first to tell Bennet du Paris that he is a mutant. The Scarab is also the first to engage Bennet du Paris in super-powered combat. As an agent of Apocalypse, the Scarab is supposed to be one of the strongest mutants and acts as a trial-by-fire for du Paris, whose latent mutant powers begin to manifest themselves. The Scarab has the ability to move with lightning speed and has skin that cannot be penetrated by common weaponry. Du Paris is able to use his new powers and defeat the Scarab. Her work done, the Scarab dies and du Paris becomes the newest novitiate of Apocalypse and is newly dubbed Exodus.
