Major Story Arcs
The original Scarlet Scarab was Abdul Faoul who was an archeologist who discovered an artifact in the form of a scarlet scarab called the Ruby Scarab. Upon picking it up, he was engulfed with mystic energy which bestowed upon him great power. He used it to fight for Egypt and helped fight against the Germans in World War II.
Somehow he lost the Ruby Scarab and his costumed days were over. On his deathbed he gave a box to his son Mehemet Faoul. The box contained his costume and a picture of the Scarlet Scarab.

Moon Knight
In the Moon Knight series, Abdul Faoul is slightly renamed as Abdallah El-Faouly. He replaced Peter Alraune in Moon Knight's origin story. His daughter Layla El-Faouly later becomes the Scarlet Scarab. Abdallah is portrayed by actor Usama Soliman.
