Origin

Skeletron claimed that in the part of the galaxy he came from, biomechanical and organic races lived together in equal numbers. Eventually, the biomechanical race decided they wanted to unite against the organic ones, which led them to form a huge star-spanning empire known as the Turgentine Technenium. They waged war on the organics, but in the end the organics won. The remaining members of the Turgentine Technenium began calling themselves the Black Fleet. They traveled across the galaxy, bringing terror to the organics who crossed their path. Along the way, the biomechanicals also drafted organics into their ranks, recruiting those who wished to kill their own kind. Eventually they arrived at the peaceful planet Scadam, where they began slaughtering the race that lived there. However, there was a philosopher on the planet who used the world's advanced technology to observe Earth and the superhuman beings who lived there. Believing it would be the best way to save his race, he decided to gain the powers of those superhuman beings. To do this, he created the Chief Examiner, who traveled to Earth to locate superhumans. The Chief Examiner would have the superhumans pass through a portal, duplicate their powers, and send that power to the philosopher’s second creation, the Chief Exterminator. Eventually, the Examiner encountered the human Kayla Ballantine. Unlike the others, she possessed the nearly unlimited power of the Star Brand. When the Examiner attempted to analyze and duplicate her power, the machine exploded. The Chief Exterminator later fought the Black Fleet but ultimately lost the battle. Kayla saw this and, in an act of desperation and fear, used her Star Brand powers to destroy the Black Fleet. She then used her powers to energize the ship and return home. However, one ship survived. It was the Dark Seed, commanded by Skeletron. He ordered his crew, the Starblasters, to follow the trail of Star Brand energy back to Earth. There, they pursued a path of destruction, although their true goal was to capture Kayla. Skeletron later traveled to the lab world of the Stranger, where he formed a false alliance in hopes of discovering the origin of the Star Brand’s power. The Stranger then approached Kayla, pretending to be a god, and tricked her into releasing the power of the Star Brand into him. The energy released during the transfer shunted half of the Stranger’s lab world into another dimension, the New Universe where the Star Brand originated. Soon after, several of Earth’s heroes, a group of the New Universe’s most powerful heroes, and the Imperial Guard arrived to oppose Skeletron. In an effort to eliminate interference, Skeletron ejected all organic beings from the Dark Seed. He felt no remorse for killing his own crew members. He then siphoned the power of the Star Brand from the New Universe dimension as well as from the Stranger. However, the Stranger ultimately outwitted Skeletron, trapping him in the dimension of the New Universe while transferring the entire Earth of the New Universe and its inhabitants into the prime Earth dimension, placing it in orbit around his world. Skeletron now possesses the greatest power in a universe devoid of all life except himself.

Powers

Skeletron possessed strength and durability that matched whatever size he assumed. He could change into any shape or form he desired and generate whatever weapon he needed. His speed and reaction time were comparable to that of a computer. He could siphon energy from others, allowing him to repair himself or make himself stronger. He could also add minerals and machinery to his body to increase his size or repair damage.

Skeletron is actually the Dark Seed itself, while the smaller figure he usually used was merely a bipedal body.

After absorbing the power of the Star Brand, his abilities grew immensely, to the point that they dwarfed those of the Stranger, although he still could not teleport between dimensions.
