Mallory Gibbs was a journalist who inherited a fraction of The Sentry's powers after he was slain by the symbiote god, Knull. These new powers helped counteract her disability, while allowing her to fly, emit energy blasts, and increase her strength. She was approached by another heir to Sentry, Ryan Topper. His motives were not pure, unfortunately. He was traveling the country killing anyone who found themselves with a fraction of The Sentry's powers. Luckily, their minds remained intact within Ryan's. They were able to telepathically communicate with Mallory and share their power so she could overwhelm him. Eventually, she was able to steal his power, leaving her as the remaining heir. Afterward, she was taken in by Misty Knight, who promised to help train her to control her new powers.
