When the Lady of Lake asked Dane Whitman if he would become the Black Knight again, one of his rewards for accepting her offer was a white winged horse named Strider. Strider had the ability to appear at Black Knight's side the moment he was needed, and could fly at incredible speed, even fly underwater. Strider is much more intelligent than a normal horse and seem to have some sort of connection with Black Knight that enables him to respond to Dane's slightest command, even knowing to kick a troll in the face just from Dane whistling.
