First issue:
Sydney Taine was investigating the murder of three crime lords with her partner "Ape" Largo, when she met the vampire boss Benedict, leader of The Others. The Others, a monster organization, was after the Three Lost Treasures of Tao. After some adventures, Sydney retrieved the treasures and gave them to Suzuki Shosan, the ancient protector of the artifacts.
Tayne is trained in martial arts, hand-to-hand combat and specially in capoeira. She has some knowledge about weapons combat. She works in the Nightside Detective Agency. Despite the fact that she has no powers, her friend Ape Largo has super-strength.
