Death Spiral
Torment started receiving text messages from someone calling themselves Redman. Redman turned out to be the Carnage symbiote. He was bonded to Eddie Brock ever since the Venom War in order to keep each other alive. Carnage learned from Eddie Brock's mind that Peter Parker was Spider-Man and Mary Jane was bonded to Venom, similarly, to keep each other alive post-Venom War. He passed these identities on to Torment for his new project.
Seeing how close the three of them were made him see a new pattern in the spirals. He started with their extended family, eventually getting to Shocker, who was related to Mary Jane through marriage. After killing Shocker, he stole his vibro-gauntlets to use against the symbiotes. Spidey, Venom, and Eddie tried teaming up to take Torment on, but they had no idea Carnage was already working with him. He eventually abandoned Eddie to bond with Torment.
Thankfully, Carnage wanted to kill without reason, causing Torment to reject his bond. This left him powerless against Venom, who threw him off a building, killing him.
