Turk Barrett was a small-time crook who has been associated with Eric Slaughter, Kingpin, and the Thunderbolts, a radical African-American gang who clashed with Daredevil and Black Panther and had ties to Zodiac.
Barrett once stole the Mauler armor in a failed attempt to confront Daredevil. He later managed to steal the Stilt-Man armor and offered his services to the Kingpin. Fisk contended that he did not employ idiots and turned him down. The original creator of the Stilt-Man armor, Wilbur Day, contacted Daredevil with information on how to defeat Barret.
Turk Barrett spent much of his time at Josie's Bar with his friend Grotto who often reluctantly participates in Turk's schemes. Turk once mugged a "Santa" at Christmas and intended to use the costume to swindle donations from others. He was confronted by a discombobulated Matt Murdock. Barrett stabbed Matt wounding and nearly killing him.
In a later misguided attempt at killing Daredevil, Barrett accidentally blew up the bar with a hand grenade. Josie's was later rebuilt by Damage Control.
Later, Barrett came into possession of the Mind Gem. Using its power to reinvent himself as a crimelord in the absence of the Kingpin, Turk Barrett prospered and was even invited to join a new incarnation of Infinity Watch. However, when Gamora, as Requiem, came to Earth to claim the Infinity Stones, Doctor Strange convinced Turk to relinquish the Mind Stone to keep himself safe. Strange then teleported Barrett out of harm's way.
More recently, he has returned to the employ of Wilson Fisk, the Kingpin.
