Dungeons of Doom
Umbra was employed by Wakanda, but he was influenced by a bat deity named Nagiku. Nagiku convinced Umbra to sneak into Latveria, while multiple factions were fighting over control after the death of Doctor Doom. Using the battles as cover, Umbra sneaks into the dungeons of doom in search of the skull shaped herb.
As Nagiku explained, the skull shaped herb brought the ancestral plane to Umbra's world, rather than bring Umbra to the ancestral plane like the heart shaped herb would. This way, Umbra could be reunited with his late wife and child.
This was a ploy from Nagiku. He used the connection the herb made to the ancestral plane to possess Umbra's body on the living, ethereal plane.
Powers & Abilities
Power Suit: Umbra wears a power suit with a foldable glider and echolocation helmet for lowlight environments.
Skull Shaped Herb: Umbra ingested the skull shaped herb, connecting him to the ancestral plane, not where ancestors are honored, but where they are banished.
