Xande was a young mutant from Rio de Janeiro who unwisely teased his friends by telepathically deflating a football they were playing with. Cable had to rescue him when his friends decided to retaliate by thumping him.
To say thank you he took Cable to a mutant gladiatorial ring called the Arena for entertainment. Cable however was unimpressed and closed the Arena down.
