After Zheng Zu's death, Zaran was hired by Li Chun, the Shadow-Hand to steal the Elixir Vitae, he was also hired by Si-Fan for the same purpose, he becomes leader of Si-Fan and faces Shang-Chi.
Years later, he once again was hired by a revived Zheng Zu, to attack Shang Chi. Later he took the Dacoits to attack the Marvel Knights.
