Origin

Zora was first seen hundreds of years ago studying at a Chinese temple with many other superhumans. Where she came from and how she got her powers were unknown, though she claimed that her powers developed out of her rejection of God and belief in herself as her own God.

It was at this temple where she first met Christian Walker and developed feelings for him. At his urging, she and others at the temple chose to go out into the outside world and become Earth's first superhero team.

Creation

Zora was created by Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming as a recurring character in their creator-owned Powers series.

Zora's death

Having remained close to Christian Walker since his days with her as the superhero Diamond, Zora and Walker secretly became engaged. She would not live to see the wedding, though. While working a case, Walker was attacked by an emotionally unstable superhero named Boogie Girl, and Zora intervened to save his life. Boogie Girl was too far gone to listen to Zora, and in their highly destructive fight, Zora was mortally injured. She died in Walker's arms, telling him she would do anything for him.
