Walter Raleigh
Walter Raleigh (c. 1552 - 1618) was a historical figure, an English writer, soldier, courtier and explorer of the Americas. His initial colonizing effort in establishing the Colony in Virginia in 1584 ended in failure. The Roanoke Island settlement was found deserted in 1590, the fate of the settlers an enduring historical mystery.
