Nergal is one of the strongest Masters of the Night and also the head of the secret police of hell, as well as one the main villains of the series. He was worshipped as a god in ancient Mesopotamia and in the 11th century he joined the "Other Side" and quickly earned the title of duke. He and his agents conducted many successful missions on many worlds, including Earth, where he became the sworn enemy of Caleb Lost when he tried to turn the participants of the Children's Crusade of the 13th century into an army of vampires. He also plans to make Harlan Draka his slave and use its powers for personal purposes.
