After Phoenix Ikki sided with the Bronze Saints, Jango came to be the leader of the Black Saints. He was causing widespread chaos and violence, with the goal of taking over the world. He challenged Ikki to a fight on Death Queen Island.
Jango lit Ikki on fire with his Death Queen Island Flame Fist, but the Bronze Saint was hardly affected, and attacked Jango with his Phoenix Genma Ken. Jango believed that he was drowning in lava and died soon after.
