Origin

Since she was a little girl, Nemu has loved her grandparents' shoemaking shop, and has been helping out at the shop for a very long time. However, seeing that her grandparents can't work as much as they used to, she has been trying her best to help them on keeping the shop afloat.

Creation

Nemu was created by Nakamura Rikito (writer) and Yukiko Nozawa (artist), and she first appeared on Weekly Young Jump No. 48 from 2024, in the 195th chapter of The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, Really Love You.

The name Nemui Nemu (根向井 寧夢) can literally be translated to "Sleepy sleep", as it's pronounced the same way as the word nemu (眠) which means to sleep. Also, the final kanji of her name (夢) can literally be translated to dream.

Appearance

Nemu is normally seen wearing a school uniform consisting of a sweater vest, a necktie, loose socks, and shoes crafted by herself, whenever she works as a shoe maker, she's seen wearing an apron as well.

Personality

Due to constantly helping on her grandparents' workshop and thus constantly staying up late, Nemu always looks sleepy, and whenever she closes her eyes to sleep, her face changes to one with a constant happy smile like she's having a happy dream. Nemu's also an advanced sleepwalker, being able to move properly and do tasks whenever she's asleep, whether it's making shoes at midnight or hanging out. However, when she wakes up, she partially forgets the things she has done, and thinks that it was a dream, thinking for example that the reason why the shoes she made while asleep are finished by the morning is due to shoemaker elves.
