Turbo Norimaki is the son of Senbei Norimaki (also know as Doctor Slump, after whom the series were named) and his wife Midori Norimaki (maiden name Yamabuki).

When he was still a new born and Senbei was taking care of him, due his father's negligence he was run over by an alien starship and died. The crew of the ship brought him back to live, but in their ignorance of human being's capabilities gave him powers such flying ability, telekinetic skills and a superior intellect that leads him to create amazing artifacts.

Her sister, Arale, is the first one who realizes the skills of baby Turbo, while playing hide-and-seek with a few friends.
