Major Story Arcs
After Sara Pezzini loses her partner Michael Yee in Rialto, Jake is assigned as her new partner. Jake is almost immediately pulled into the Witchblade's web. He witnesses the battle between Kenneth Irons and Pezzini, and is temporarily relived from duty along with Pezzini. Jake takes the time and visits his folks in California and reconnects with Cynthia. When Tora No Shi attacks the NYPD, he rushes back to force. He is there, when Ian Nottingham takes The Darkness and Witchblade powers. Cynthia gets caught up with the cult of Gavin Taylor, and is killed. This weights heavily on Jake and makes hm determined to take Gavin Taylor down.
In the battle where Pezzini tries to stop Nottingham and get her Witchblade back, Jake gets impaled and is hospitalized. While he is in the hospital, Eric Sketh is assigned as Pezzini's partner. Sara uses Witchblade to heal Jake in the hospital.
When Sara's new partner attacks Jake with Excalibur and wants Jake to leave the force, he kills Sketh. Jake then takes back his former position as Pezzini's partner. On one of the investigations Sara and Jake happen on a Coin of Solomon. Jake picks it up and it merged with his forearm. Sara's Witchblade pulled it out, and it fell into a bystander's hands, who then disappeared.
Soon Jake starts to date Sara's sister Julie Pezzini. Worried for her strange behavior he follows Julie and sees her breaking the law, Jake arrests her. When a strange wave of depression washes over New York, Jake wants to shoot Julie, but is stopped by a guard. He is suspended from work.
Death
Jake watches over Pezzini when she is in coma. When Pezzini wakes up she reconnects to the Witchblade and it attacks Jake. jake is seriously injured, and before he drifts away, he admits that he love Sara. Jake end up in a coma himself. After some time Jake makes a miracolous recovery, but it was because a demon's spirit took over his body. Sara battles the evil spirit and weakens it. Jake temporarily regains his senses and kills himself, to prevent taken as a host again.
