Origin

Michel Thiebaut is the Thiebaut family's firstborn child. He is the older brother of Dominique Thiebaut, the girl who would become Cyblade.

After her powers manifested, Dominique and Michael's father hired Madame Jocelyn to properly train Dominique to defend herself after surviving a kidnapping attempt. He watched as the woman transformed his carefree, fun-loving younger sister into a hard, aggressive young woman. When their father fired Jocelyn after an encounter with Dominique where the young girl scolded him for interrupting her training, Michael and his father seemingly died in a car crash. Cyberdata orchestrated the crash at Jocelyn's insistence. In doing so, Cyblade's mentor, Madame Jocelyn, gained custody of Dominique and control of her father's assets until the girl came of age.

Major Story Arcs

She continued Cyblade's training in martial arts and weapon mastery; eventually, she was recruited into Cyberdata's ranks. While working for the company, Cyblade started to question them, and then Doctor Corben contacted her. Saburo Kimata witnessed this encounter and informed Madame Jocelyn. Cyblade followed Corben's instructions and discovered that Michel was still alive and was being enhanced. Jocelyn revealed her part in her family's fate, and an enraged Cyblade attacked her.

During their melee, flammable chemicals spilled, and when Jocelyn revealed her powers, she accidentally caused a fire in the lab where Michel was starting to awaken. He saw his sister just before the room exploded. Michel was seemingly dead again. Only to be revealed still alive years later. After the lab explosion, Cyberdata further mechanized him. Michel thinks that his sister killed their father and wanted to kill him.

When he awoke, Cyberdata made him a S.H.O.C. He came into contact with Cyberforce when the group broke into Cyberdata's facility to help Velocity. Michel, now codenamed "Hotspur", hints to Cyblade of their connection but does not reveal his true identity to her at that time.

Cyblade returns to her birthplace in a forgotten European country named Chalenne. She discovers her brother is alive and looks much better than we last saw him. As a member of royal blood, Michel has claimed rulership of the country. He reveals to Cyblade that their father sold meta-humans to Emil Zadrok for experimentation. When Cyberdata went after his children, and he disapproved of their actions, he was killed. The reunion is cut short by a madman who uses the Eye of Serpentine to gain power. Foolsgrave has crucified Michel and plans on sacrificing him to gain even more power. Cyberforce's reinforcements arrive just in time: the gem shatters, and darkness falls over Chalenne; Cyblade then cuts herself to draw the evil inside her. A girl holding the Ark of Serpentine saves the day. Michel is cut down from the cross, and he seems to be dying again. The future is left open for Michel, as this is the last we see of him.

Powers and Abilities

Powers

Electromagnetic Energy Blasts: Michael possesses powers similar to his younger sister. Cyblade recognized the energy signature during their first encounter but did not recognize Michael as Hotspur because of his further deformities and massive bionic enhancements.

Bionics

Michael's body received massive bionic enhancements after the lab detonated while he was being enhanced. The enhancements appear to be more like power armor, as in his second appearance he appears to be normal, so the exact nature of his enhancements is not exactly clear.
