Australian Comics
The comic industry of Australia.

History
Australia has the distinction of being one of the largest comic industries (in terms of issues published) where the vast majority of the material is untranslated reprints, due to the shared language with the United States (where the material generally originated). The actual fundamentally Australian industry of new material is much more characterized as an underground and sometimes obscure industry with major comics including those that the creators will not allow to be collected and reprinted, major works still only lasting a dozen standard issus at most or gaps of years between issues. Although the material is mostly reprints with some original work, the long-running The Phantom comic from Australia is one of the most significant long-running comics centered around the character. Again, because of the shared language the material is reprinted usually rather than translated but because there is no American alternative (where it was originally published as a comic strip), it serves as the main English comic magazine for the character.
Notable Creators and Series
Iron Outlaw was a notable newspaper strip of the 70's but despite its legacy it was quite famously not reprinted or collected for decades.
Translation Industry
Material doesn't generally get translated by Australian publishers and instead they presumambly import translations from other English countries.
