In 1998, Joe’s Comics was established by J. Michael Straczynski as an imprint of Top Cow specializing in high-quality comics. Two titles published under that imprint from 2002 to 2004. Rising Stars and Midnight Nation, went on to become critically-acclaimed, top-selling titles, and regarded as two of the best graphic novels of the last twenty years.

Several spin-offs Rising Stars: Bright, Rising Stars: Voices Of The Dead & Rising Stars: Untouchable, although not written by Straczynski, were published under Joe's Comics until 2005.

In 2013 Joe's Comics was relaunched under Image as part of his Studio JMS with two announced titles; Ten Grand and Sidekick, with two additional titles planned; Falling Angel and Guardians.
