History

The Filipino industry of comic publishing is the largest and most prominent of Southeast Asia (and one of the largest in all of Asia generally outside of East Asia). They were an especially full industry in the 20th century and although there was quite a bit of translated reprint material, there was also a healthy industry of original comics. Their multiple anthologies to last 1000 or more issues were generally of their own material rather than reprints which is quite unlike many other countries.
