Piranha Press
Piranha Press was an imprint of DC Comics and their first attempt at a creator-owned, mature readers line of comics. Starting in 1989, the line was a response to capture the popularity of "alternative comics" at the time. The imprint lasted until 1994.

The imprint was headed by editor Mark Nevelow and the majority of work commissioned were from unknown cartoonists, artists and writers in the alternative comics field.
Sales were modest and the line was ended but not before Nevelow and DC also created the imprints Paradox Press and Vertigo in the early 1990's, the latter of which proved successful and survived for decades.
