Terrorism

Terrorism

Terrorism is the act of causing violence to scare a populace. A real world example would be what happened to the United States on September 11, 2001. It is also a topic constantly covered in comics with several Mutant groups that use terrorism as a way of acting against a Government that doesn't wish to make them equals.

Overview

Terrorism has been explored a great deal more in the comic book world in the 21st century where it has been treated somewhat like the Nazi's participation in the Second World War were during the classic age of comics.

Much of this has been attributed to the September 11th attacks and the need for comic book heroes to reflect real world events and to give heroes, especially super heroes, subject matter to rally against and resonate with the reading public. With that in mind there has been a rise in the more gritty and serious exploration of terrorism over the more traditional comic evil genius's henchmen storylines.
